IHG signs for four Holiday Inn hotels in Buddhist Circuit

Intercontinental hotels group,( IHG) and Lotus Trans Travel Private Limited announced the signing of  a management agreement to establish four hotels portfolio under the Holiday Inn banner. Holiday  Inn Bodhgaya, Holiday Inn Kushinagar, Holiday Inn Gorakhpur and Holiday Inn Shravasti. This will establish company’s  presence at Buddhist tourism circuit as Bodhgaya in Bihar, Gorakhpur, Shravasti and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh are some of the main pilgrimage centres for Buddhist in India.

IHG is the first international operator to have  presence in the Buddhist circle of India.

Sudeep Jain, Vice President, development South West Asia, IHG said that this signing adds to the rapidly growing presence of their well-recognised Holiday Inn brand across the country. This agreement is in line with  development strategy for the South West Asia region. He considered the Buddhist circuit as an important landmark for religious tourism which will result  in the growing number of tourists by the government’s efforts to develop and promote the route.

Holiday Inn Bodhgaya, Holiday inn Kushinagar, Holiday inn Gorakhpur and Holiday Inn Shravasti together will add over 450 rooms to IHG’s system and establish company’s presence to the Buddhist tourism circuit. Four hotel portfolios have  been scheduled between 2020-2023 in Bodhgaya, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Shravasti.

IHG currently has 31 hotels operating across four brands in India, including  Intercontinental  Hotels and Resorts,  Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday  Inn Express with a further 43 in the development line.
